BUS

A passenger bus, often referred to simply as a bus, is a large public transport vehicle used to carry multiple passengers, usually operating on urban and long-distance routes. They travel through cities, connecting neighbourhoods, and also provide long-distance transport between different cities. Often with stops and fixed routes that allow passengers to board and alight easily, buses are an important part of urban transport systems and long-distance travel.

Bus Blind Area Camera Monitor System Ensures Driving Safety

In the process of bus driving, drivers often face various challenges, especially safety issues caused by blind spots. To address these challenges, Aotop has introduced a series of camera monitoring systems aimed at providing bus drivers with a comprehensive view, mitigating blind spot hazards during driving. These hazards may include pedestrians, bicycles, and other vehicles, posing potential impacts on the driver’s decision-making and operations.

Aotop not only offers camera monitoring systems but also provides a variety of display and camera packages tailored for bus drivers to meet diverse needs. These packages not only enhance the driver’s perception of the surrounding environment but also crucially support safe driving. With real-time monitoring and clear image displays, Aotop’s solutions help alleviate driver stress, improve the ability to respond to sudden situations, ensuring buses travel more safely and reliably on the road.

Installing the Side View Short Arm Camera Electronic Mirror System on buses brings numerous benefits. The system effectively replaces the traditional left and right-side mirrors, providing the driver with better monitoring capabilities in all low-light or bad weather conditions, helping him to better see the left and right sides of the bus as well as the blind spots at the rear, giving him a much wider field of vision than traditional rear-view mirrors. This not only improves the ease of the reversing experience, but also enhances driving safety on all fronts.

This complete system includes two 12.3-inch split-screen monitors【VD-1237S】, two short-arm cameras on the left and right sides, and a rear-view reversing camera.【CH307B2】

For right-side area monitoring, the monitors are mounted vertically on the A-pillar of the bus 【1】, and the corresponding right-side short-arm camera is mounted above the right front of the bus 【3】. This camera supports two video signal inputs and features two independent, manually adjustable lenses. One lens is used to monitor the right front area and the other is used to monitor the right rear area, providing a comprehensive viewpoint monitoring and making it safer for drivers during right turns and lane changes.

For monitoring the left side area of the bus, the monitor is also mounted vertically on the B-pillar of the bus 【2】, and the corresponding short-arm left camera is mounted above the left front of the bus 【4】. One lens is used to monitor the left front area (e.g. passenger boarding and alighting), and the other is used to monitor the left rear area, ensuring that a comprehensive view is provided for monitoring during left turns and lane changes, further enhancing driving safety.

As for the blind spot monitoring at the rear of the bus, a reversing camera【5】 is mounted on the rear roof of the bus via a 20-metre extension cable, which is connected to the monitor 【1】 on the A-pillar for monitoring the blind spot at the rear. When reversing, the area below the monitor split screen displays the reversing guidelines, providing a clearer view, thus enhancing the convenience and safety of rear monitoring.

All in all, this system plays an important role in improving the bus driver’s real-time monitoring of the left and right sides as well as the rear blind zones, which comprehensively improves driving safety and provides more reliable protection for bus travelling.

HD Camera Surveillance Solution for Double Decker Coach

As a mode of transportation, the double-decker bus poses a series of challenges for drivers, with one of the most significant issues being the presence of blind spots. Due to its large size, the driver may encounter visibility blind spots both in the rear and on both sides, creating obstacles for safe operations.

During turns and lane changes, the increased length and height of the double-decker bus introduce uncertainties for the driver regarding the surrounding environment, potentially leading to risky maneuvers. Additionally, the scenario of passengers boarding and alighting presents safety concerns, as the driver cannot directly observe the opening and closing of doors or the movement of passengers, making potential dangers more likely. Furthermore, the substantial blind spot in the rear complicates the process of reversing the bus.

To address these challenges, a comprehensive solution involves installing a high-definition camera surveillance system on the bus, providing an all-encompassing safety net. Firstly, the system includes a 10.1-inch 8-channel AHD video display, typically positioned on the dashboard of the driver’s compartment. This display supports an 8-split screen, enabling simultaneous viewing of video feeds from eight cameras. With an integrated 256GB storage card, it can record in real-time and support video playback, offering reliable data in case of emergencies. [CM-1010HQ8]

[CH307FE] The forward-facing camera is affixed to the interior front windshield, monitoring the road conditions ahead and enhancing the driver’s awareness of front traffic.

[AC-388] 2 side-view cameras are individually mounted on the left and right mirror arms, offering wide-angle coverage of potential blind spots on both sides. This provides the driver with visual monitoring, ensuring safer turns, lane changes, and maneuvers.

[AC-972] The rear-view backup camera is installed on the roof of the bus, monitoring the blind spot in the rear and providing assistance during reversing to reduce the risk associated with this operation.

[AC-386] 4 interior cameras, with two optionally placed on the upper deck and two optionally placed in the lower deck’s passenger entry and exit areas, ensure the safety of passengers boarding and alighting.

This high-definition camera monitoring system effectively addresses various challenges encountered during the operation of a double-decker bus. It empowers the driver to navigate blind spots more effectively, enhances safety during turns and lane changes, and ensures secure passenger boarding and alighting as well as reliable reversing operations. Beyond providing additional safety measures for the bus company’s operations, it offers passengers a trustworthy protection, guaranteeing a more secure travel experience. In emergency situations, the built-in cameras serve as compelling evidence for accident investigations, providing substantial support for safe operations.

Installing the Side View Short Arm Camera Electronic Mirror System on buses brings numerous benefits. The system effectively replaces the traditional left and right side mirrors, providing the driver with better monitoring capabilities in all low-light or bad weather conditions, helping him to better see the left and right sides of the bus as well as the blind spots at the rear, giving him a much wider field of vision than traditional rear-view mirrors. This not only improves the ease of the reversing experience, but also enhances driving safety on all fronts.
